Meal Site Coordinator

Make a difference in someone's life one meal at a time! As a Meal Site Coordinator you will manage the overall operation for a variety of meal service sites. This includes but is not limited to: serving lunch, monitoring food quality, maintaining the reservation system, managing set-up and clean-up, and supervising volunteers. The meal service sites are located in elder housing buildings or community buildings, such as senior centers in Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Melrose, Revere, Winthrop, North Reading, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield and Medford.


Compensation: $21 per hour.


Schedule: This is a part-time position. You will work approximately 3.5 hours per day, from 9:30 am - 1:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

Job Activities

Job activities of the position are below. Additional duties may be assigned as required.

  1. Daily serving of lunch
  2. Monitor the quality and quantity of food
  3. Daily clean up of site after meal service
  4. Maintain an accurate meal reservation system
  5. Supervise meal site volunteers and assist with recruitment of new volunteers.
  6. Order/maintain a proper supply of paper products and other supplies as needed
  7. Compile and submit daily/weekly/monthly reports in a timely manner
  8. Establish effective working relationships with participants, volunteers and COA staff, if applicable
  9. Maintain serve safe, choke safe and allergen training certifications annually
  10. Ensure that safety guidelines are followed at all times

Qualifications:

  • Ability to lift 35 lbs.
  • Ability to supervise volunteers.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Food service experience preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to foster a welcoming and inviting dining atmosphere for participants.
